Master of Teaching

  • The Master of Teaching (MTeach) is a practice-oriented programme designed for professionals across the wide range of education and education-related contexts, who are committed to sharpen their professional expertise in delivering high quality teaching to diverse learners of today through the bridging of practice and research. The MTeach programme will be of great value to educators in educational institutions from pre-schools to universities in both public and private settings. It seeks to empower educators through the demonstration of advanced knowledge in teaching and research into teaching, and in so doing, provide appropriate responses to emerging complex real world challenges pertaining to teaching and learning. Graduates of the MTeach programme will set new standards of teaching excellence, and lead pedagogical transformations in their respective educational settings and communities. 

    You will acquire the following competencies:

    1. Developing Positive Psychology-based solutions to support learners’ holistic learning and well-being,

    2. Developing theoretically and practically useful conceptions of curriculum and curriculum designing,

    3. Designing a coherent set of assessment practices that enhances the efficacious use of AfL compatible sensitive to social-cultural settings,

    4. Designing and developing learning experiences with digital media technologies and associated pedagogies,

    5. Designing and developing lesson plans and assessment tasks sensitive to diverse learners’ needs that reflect sound pedagogical content knowledge for effective instruction,

    6. Conducting classroom inquiry through collaborative professional relationships, and

    7. Enacting important professional decision-making skills based on evidence from reflective-practice and inquiry.

    • Proficiency in English

    • A good bachelor’s degree

    • At least 2 years of teaching experience

    • Teaching qualification, or its equivalent

  • Effective from January 2021 intake

    The coursework for this programme comprises 6 MTeach courses plus either:

    • a dissertation or
    • two additional courses (one Open Elective and MTC907 Integrative Project)

    MTC907 Integrative Project is open only for applicants pursuing the degree totally by coursework.
